Lisbon, Mar 9 (Prensa Latina) More than 200 Portuguese women representing women s organizations demanded that the US grant Olga Salanueva and Adriana Perez visas to visit their husbands, illegally held in US prisons since 1998.

In a press note Friday, the Cuban Embassy in Lisbon informed that the demand was formulated in an International Women s Day activity with members of the Women s Democratic Movement, the Workers Central Trade Union Office and the Movement for Peace.

There were also delegates from the Union for Resistance against Fascism, Association for Equality of Women and Men and other social institutions.

Cuban diplomat Ana Maria Diaz Canel expressed gratitude for the support to Olga and Adriana, wives of Rene Gonzalez and Gerardo Hernandez, who together with Ramon Labanino, Antonio Guerrero and Fernando Gonzalez, are unfairly imprisoned in the United States.

In the activity, cards with the images of Olga and of Adriana and Rene s daughter Ivette were sent to US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, demanding respect for the Cuban women s situation.

The Portuguese women s movement committed to support the Cuban Five and send more letters to US judicial and government authorities demanding their release.

Madrid, Mar 10 (Prensa Latina) A meeting of Spanish organizations of solidarity with Cuba will raise support to the five Cuban anti-terrorists jailed in the US.

The State Committee backs immediate, unconditional release of Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labanino, Antonio Guerrero, Rene Gonzalez and Fernando Gonzalez.

They will press the US government to give Adriana Perez and Olga Salanueva, wives of Gerardo and Rene, and Rene's daughter Ivette, visas to visit them and invited both to participate in the drive in Madrid and other cities late this month and early April.

The State Committee will set up regional offices to improve work and action programs, turn the Communist Party feast into a drive for the Five and expand work through the Internet with a Web page.
